Matt Jones, over at his site makes some excellent points about the super-fundamentalistic tendencies that much of the Christian community seems to be holding (from an outsider’s perspective).
Far too many people take things far too literally. Besides, if Christian parents were so confident in their methods of raising their children, why should they have such vitriolic reactions to others reading it? Matt puts it very eloquently, that these are just fiction. Fantasy and exploration of imagination are natural tendencies. While imaginations often need guidance, stifling them with censorship is certainly not the answer.
Isn’t it amazing the type of people that live in this crazy world? So many people hide behind their religion that it makes me sick. They feel that their actions are justified just because their religion is okay with it. If you think back in history, so many wars, etc. have been started over a difference in beliefs.
Hey, I had to change some of the internal structure of my website and Rob’s link in this post isn’t going to work anymore
. Sorry Rob.
Fortunately the article still exists, it’s just in a differen’t physical location. You can find it at it’s new home:

You need to blog more often man! BTW, have you heard back from Cupach about the radio thing? Let me know what’s up!
I totally agree. My aunt forbids her children to read the Harry Potter books because she thinks they include sorcery spells that will bring the devil into her home. When I told her i’ve read them, she asked me if i pray before i go to sleep after i read them in case demons come and attack me. needless to say, religion is important, and i am a spiritual person, but in no way have i ever felt “possessed” by a devil when i have read the books.
