While surfing around the internet, I happened upon this blog and was enthralled by the August 4 entry. For those of you who enjoyed the “Lemmings” series of games for DOS and the Mac, here is your chance to play it, in your browser window. The website contains many of the original levels, and all of the original gameplay from this classic series.

Four Days!!!
I was just so excited to hear that 3DRealms was releasing the source code to Duke Nukem 3D under the GPL. I have already downloaded the code, and while I do not have it working, I expected as much. It compiles, but when I run the binary, it just sits there. Perhaps I do not have the right data files. I’ll see if Mike or Matt Kutzman have the Atomic Edition.
But 4 days since they released the code, and the folks over at Icculus have ported the code. Now, give it a couple of weeks for refinement, and we are good to go….
New Half-Life Mod
Sitting in front of the computer screen of a friend’s computer, I began playing a new mod for Half-Life, Ricochet. A rather interesting mod with a Tron look, and a unique feel for HL.
You jump between platforms and throw razor-sharp disks at each other. Normally, I hate most mods, other than TFC, but I really like this one.
The DopeFish Lives!!!
After the upgrade, I started playing around with DOSEMU, a full-fledged DOS emulator. The FreeDOS kernel is a little lacking, so I threw my copy of the Windows 95 DOS on there, and it is working to a degree.
Anything that seriously changes the screen resolution or bit depth don’t seem to work, although I probably can tweak the configuration to fix that. Duke Nukem 3D and Liero won’t run, but I did get ZZT and Commander Keen functioning…..\n\n
Wine and Windows Apps
I am so amazed at the newset build of Wine. The only applications I cannot get working are Half-Life and Grand Theft Auto.
Roller Coaster Tycoon works in fullscreen only, with the other caveat being that the Load Game and
Save Game Dialogs show up behind the game. If anyone knows any fixes for this, let me know.
Everything else I throw at Wine seems to come out very nicely at the end. Even Unreal and ST: Voyager Elite Force work as smooth as can be.
