Long Time, No See

It has been a very long time. Apparently, over a month. It has been quite a busy time since then. I am still enjoying my classes, although I have a pretty major project I am just getting started on. I want to use fractals to demonstrate the influence of both chaos and order in concert on nature and society.

Work is just usual. Blech… I am spending most of my time at the service desk working until 12:30AM. Talk about slow and dull… I am so glad that I will only have to be there for another two years or so and that my hourly time will be decreased as I get more into school.

One little indulgence lately, I did purchase a Handspring Visor with tax return money. Talk about cool. The ability to read while on the go is just awesome.

Habitat is going pretty well, although slowly. Because of all of the school stuff, I have not been able to get over there much lately. We did have the annual banquet on May 1st, and it was good. RCHFH will have about 6 homes worth of resources available by the end of the year. Considering the size of Richland County, that is pretty good.

Well, I have to run. More of my boring life later….

Mid-Ohio Home Show

I spent some time at Habitat today, working on the network, but was alone for the first time in a great while. The rest of the crew was out at the Richland County Fairgrounds setting up for the Home Show. Hopefully, there will be a decent amount of donations coming in. They have had an innovative idea of allowing people to sponsor a square foot of space in the home for $40.00. They will get a certificate and a small pin, in appreciation of their contributions.

I am very proud to be able to at least announce that Richland Habitat will be very successful this year.

Due to ongoing negotiations, I cannot disclose the identity of the generous benefactors that are allowing RCHFH to be more successful this year than they have been in the past. However, I can say that there are donations available to build up to four houses, including a new benefactor just today.

We are only at February, and we are now at the stage where we can get started building as soon as the weather breaks. In fact, new property will likely have to be purchased soon to keep up with the supply of donations.

In the meantime, the modernization of the office is progressing slowly. Networking supplies have not arrived yet, but the computers themselves are there. In fact, they include network cards built onto the motherboard, 100Base-TX (3Com).
